I developed a cough over the weekend. The deep, from the bottom of my chest kind. My ribcage sort of hurts. Thank the Lyndon B. Johnson for cough syrup with codeine in it.

However, I did work on my thesis this weekend. My Introduction is mostly mapped out. I have loads of notes that I need to turn into sentences and paragraphs. Go me.

I also had a good Saturday with The Ladies in Northampton. Yarn + Yak = a fantastic way to spend the Saturday.

I was all set to finish my orange dress, when I realized... I never bought a zipper for it. Completely spaced on that. Can't finish it until I bribe someone to take me to the fabric store.

Blast and Tarnation!

Stayed up too late... got up too early. Forgot my coffee at home. Attempted to make some tea. Water on my floor is out. Had to carry the teapot down two floors to find water.

But now I have tea. *slurp*

Miss Inertia has been feeding me dirty dance songs. This is why I love her.

I have (another) confession to make.

In addition to loving velvet, and velvet jackets in particular, I also... hate summer.

There. I said it. I feel better.

I hate hot weather. I hate humidity. My body normally runs so warm that I get super uncomfortable in the summer. I get a sticky film of sweat and salt and gross that never really goes away, even after I shower. I think about moving, and I start sweating buckets.

I get grumpy. I start having dirty fantasies about being able to take a walk without getting a sweat stain on my back, or doing laundry without sweat stinging my eyes. I want to cook, and sew, and I can't bear to because it is too freaking hot.

I've gotten a lot of reading done in the past few weeks, since reading means I can lay out flat on my back in front of the fan, and not move.

I have to get my toes done. And get a haircut. And buy some groceries. But it's too hot.

Another confession? I love "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green. I have a whole playlist of songs that I want to play at my (entirely fictional) wedding. "Let's Stay Together" is one of them.

One roll of tape, one glue stick, and one-half a ball point pen later, my lab notebook is up to date. Which was great, until I realized that it drove home the point that my Westerns aren't working. Well, that's not entirely true. They work, they're just crap. This would be no big deal except for the fact that I NEED one set to work so that I can finally send out my macrophage paper. And then maybe, I'll be allowed to think about graduating.

Is it sad that I have the number for peanut butter cups from the vending machine downstairs memorized? It's E1, in case you were curious.

Right, so Westerns. I need to figure out how to boost the signal from the horseradish peroxidase. I think the problem lies in my samples. Or in the primary antibody. Let's blame the primary antibody for the moment, shall we?

I'm going to go beat my corset story with a red pen, and see if that makes me feel any better.
