Arisia 2008 was fun, on the whole. I think I need to get more into steampunk. Victorian age + science fiction = awesome.
I did not accomplish my goal of making out with anyone. However, I did meet a nice doctor. If my mother really was a Jew, she's be happy. He was looking for girlfriend material, though. I just got out of girlfriend mode, I'm not interested in going back into it for a while.
It's too bad you couldn't order a sex buddy from Amazon. You can order everything else on the planet from Amazon. "Your shopping cart contains: 1 copy of Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0, 1 copy of All Together Dead by Charlaine Harris, 1 sex buddy with wrist kissing upgrade. You qualify for Super Saver Shipping!"
Hmmmm... I might be on to something.

I could talk about the afghan I finished over the weekend. Or the afghan I started last night. Or how I fooled myself into thinking I could drink a cup of green tea after 6 yesterday evening, and then ended up with the "OMG-can't-sleep-AUUUUUUGHHHH!" crazies. Or how I watched two cats in the yard next door beat the living daylights out of each other before breakfast.
Instead, I present you with the 4 Rules of Kat's Life.

I've said before that my life seems to be a series of random events in which I am the only common element.
*I've been trying to lose some weight in the past few weeks. I've realized that my body-image problem isn't so much that I've gained weight, but that I've lost what muscle definition I had from belly dancing. Conclusion: get ass back to belly dancing class.
*After finishing the Sookie Stackhouse series (or at least, what's in paperback), I've decided to embark on reading all of the Anne of Green Gables books. The great experiment will be if I still have a crush on Gilbert.
*Darcy, my new computer, was a bit slow. He was rather lacking in the, shall we say, RAM area. After going to three different stores looking for the right kind,
evan712 and I found it. He was even nice enough to install it for me. I think he was just looking for an excuse to feel up the inside of my computer.
*Oh yeah, I'll be in Richmond, VA visiting my more-successful-and-better-looking younger sister next week. I'll be back Thursday evening.
*Thinking about pulling together all my smut, cleaning it up, filling in some gaps and self-publishing it. Anyone interested in owning a hard copy?
*Also thinking about having a near-end-of-summer potluck/ picnic dinner shindig sometime in September. Who's interested?

I just want my PhD already. I had written this big long paragraph about school, but it boils down to this one statement: I want my PhD. I want to graduate, and I want to figure out what I'm doing next. Fin.
I've been learning how to play the zills in belly dancing class since September. Weirdly enough, I can do doubles, but not singles. I can do shave-and-a-haircut, but not shave-and-a (the gallop). I can layer three moves together, but I can't seem to do an Egyptian (which I've been doing for nearly two years) and play the zills at the same time.
My body has a very weird disconnect. Sometimes the right and the left sides don't talk to each other, sometimes my brain is slow in getting the message to my muscles, or vice versa.

I've been writing, or editing, for at least ten minutes a day for the past few weeks, since NaNoWriMo wrapped up. I'm planning on picking up and finishing Definition this week. A two week breather was nice, but it needs to be finished soon before I forget where I was going with the story. Plus, I need to finish La Corsetiere, before people start to have murderous thoughts in my general direction. And I need to start thinking about my Clarion application.
I may have a place to send my She's Such a Geek essay. It needs to edited down by about 2000 words, which makes me happy because it was 2000 words too long to begin with. I should also find a home for "Makes Mouths Happy". Someplace that appreciates its campy and erotic tendencies. *glares at Pseudopod and its grammatically incorrect rejection letter*
