As in Organize my stuff at work, so that when I leave in two weeks, people can find it. This means going through my boxes in the freezers, and chucking stuff that isn't needed (it's a duplicate, an incorrect clone, a dud stock, etc), making sure all my data got into an Excel spreadsheet or nine, and then making sure everything gets backed up onto an external hard drive somewhere. I also have to clean out my desk. Note to self: get the giant recycling bin from the loading dock.

My thesis was sent to the binder last week. I should have my hardback copies by next week. I filed all the paperwork I needed to get myself out of hock. I am officially done with graduate school. Yeehaw.

The paperwork for my work permit was submitted just over a week ago. Now, I wait.

Finally, more sewing pictures.

Saturday's trip to the fabric store was okay. I got the contrasting fabric, buttons and zipper for one dress. I didn't end up getting the fabric for a second dress. I did get some awesome cherry print fabric and some embroidered linen from the clearance table. I'm going to make kitchen stuff.

They also had some striped shirting that I liked, but couldn't figure out what in hell I would do with it. Until last night, when I decided I wanted to make a full-sized apron since where do I spill most on myself when I'm cooking? My chest. The part not covered by my patchwork apron.

I've finished Anne of Green Gables and am reading Anne of Avonlea at the moment. Between the Anne books and Miss Inertia, my taste in fabric has flip-flopped. I'm usually a solid color kind of gal, but while at JoAnn's on Saturday, most of what I was drawn to was calicos and country prints. Right now, all I want to do is move to Prince Edward Island, wear cute calico dresses, bake cupcakes, garden, sew and write.

One can always hope.

My desire to sew has been revived.

I bought two new sewing patterns from Folkwear last weekend.

Pattern #261, Paris Promenade Dress

and

Pattern #249, 1930's Day Dresses

The top one is originally from the 1920's and has a matching purse pattern; the bottom two are from the 1930's. I have fabric for the 1930's one with pockets; it's light blue with clouds and red and black flowers on it. I need to get contrasting fabric, buttons, thread and a zipper. The 1920's dress I want to make in hot pink and black. Or copper/bronze and black.

Anyone want to go to the fabric store this weekend? I'll buy you lunch...

Paper: I got the proofs of my first author research paper yesterday. Paul wants to change the title. *sigh* Whatever, I say.

Presentation: My department's seminar schedule came out yesterday. I am... not on the list anywhere. One more sign I am on the fast track out of here.

Pox: The scab fell off last night. It wasn't completely healed; there's still a leaky spot in the center so I have to wear a bandage because I'm still contagious. The healed part is neon pink, which is kinda fascinating.
